マレーシア、クアラ・ルンプールにあるペトロナス・ツイン・タワーズです。
その名の通り、マレーシアの国立石油会社によるビルです。

シアーズ・タワー / Sears Tower
シカゴにあるアメリカで最も高い超高層ビル、シアーズ・タワーです。
1974年、デパート大手のシアーズの本社ビルとして建設され、高さ443ｍは当時世界一の高さを誇りました。その後、1997年にマレーシアのクアラ・ルンプールにペトロナス・タワー（尖塔も含めて451ｍ）が完成、首位を譲ったといわれましたが、高さに関してはこんな論争が。
"At 452 m (1,483 feet) tall, including decorative spires, the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, laid claim to replacing the Sears Tower as the tallest building in the world in 1998. Not everyone agreed and in the ensuing controversy four different categories of "tallest building" were created. Of these, Petronas was the tallest in one category. With the arrival of the Taipei 101, the Petronas towers were surpassed in spire height and for the first time the Sears was surpassed in roof height. At its highest point, the Sears Tower's antenna exceeds the Taipei 101's spire in height."
屋根の高さ、尖塔の高さ、付属物による最高到達点なんていうカテゴリーわけをして世界一の高さを競っているようですが、どれもがもうじきアラブだかどこだかのビルに抜かれてしまいます。
なお、シアーズ社はその後業績不振により、このビルを売却したそうですが、ビルに名前は残っているという状態です。

マリーナ・シティ / Marina City
元祖摩天楼の街・シカゴにあるマリーナ・シティという複合施設です。
トウモロコシみたいなビルが２つ立っています。
Bertrand Goldbergという人が設計したみたいで、1964年に完成しました。
"The apartments are also unique in that they are all-electric, a function of the time of their construction in the early 1960s. They are not provided with hot water or central air or heat. Instead, each unit contains individual hot water heaters, heating and cooling units, and electric stoves, and residents pay individually for the electricity needed to run these appliances."なんて、なかなか面白い試みもされていたようです。
